A Step Forward at Woburn: Tied 16th at the 2024 G4D Open

My second appearance at The G4D Open brought another step forward, as I finished tied 16th at Woburn Golf Club in May 2024.

Played on the Duchess Course from 15–17 May, the championship brought together 80 golfers from 19 countries. It was an opportunity to compete against an international field in one of disability golf’s leading championships.

I opened with a 77, followed by rounds of 80 and 78, for a total of 235. That left me at 19 over par, sharing 16th place with Ireland’s Conor Stone.

There was measurable progress from my first appearance. At the inaugural championship in 2023, I had finished 17th with a total of 240. Returning a year later, I reduced that total by five shots and moved one place higher on the leaderboard.

That improvement gave me something concrete to build on. Tournament progress doesn’t always arrive as a dramatic jump up the leaderboard; sometimes it comes through reducing the total and becoming more competitive over three rounds.

Kipp Popert won the men’s title by one shot from defending champion Brendan Lawlor, while Daphne van Houten claimed the women’s title.

For me, Woburn 2024 became another marker in my development: a second G4D Open appearance, a lower score and an improved finish.
