September 2022 brought an important result in my golfing journey: victory in the EDGA RSM Gross Series event at Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club.

Having made my EDGA debut that June, I was still relatively new to disability golf. Winning at Stratford gave me a result to build on and marked a significant step in my first season.

I opened with a level-par round of 72 and went on to finish one shot ahead of Bradley Smith over the two rounds. Bradley had reached the world’s top ten and already competed on the G4D Tour, making him a strong player to finish ahead of.

The competition was part of a wider week at Stratford, with golfers also contesting the RSM European Play-off Series Net and Stableford titles. Alongside the tournaments, EDGA and RSM volunteers helped introduce people with disabilities to golf bringing newcomers and experienced competitors together at the same venue.

In my comments after the event, I thanked RSM for looking after the players and highlighted the welcoming atmosphere. I also spoke about enjoying the practice round with a young Italian player and his parents. Those friendships were part of what made the visit memorable.

Looking back, Stratford deserves its place among the milestones of my early EDGA career. Just a few months after entering my first event, I had a victory alongside my name.
